Open Day 2026

Hykeham Sailing Club was delighted to welcome visitors to Apex Lake for its recent Open Day, following the exciting news that the future of the club has now been secured.
Despite there being not much wind on the day, the day proved to be a real success, with a fantastic turnout from families, adults and young people keen to find out more about sailing and becoming part of the club community.
Visitors had the opportunity to meet members, look around the facilities, and experience what sailing at Apex Lake is all about. The event generated significant interest in both the clubs junior sailing programme and its upcoming RYA Level 1 and Level 2 adult training courses, with several people already signing up to become members on the day.
The club has seen growing interest from people looking to try a new outdoor activity, learn practical skills, and become part of a welcoming and supportive community environment.

Sam Davy, Commodore of Hykeham Sailing Club said:
It was fantastic to see so many people through the gates and such positive interest in the club. Our Open Day was all about showing people that sailing is accessible, family-friendly and open to everyone, regardless of experience. Were especially pleased to see strong interest in our junior sailing and adult training courses, as developing new sailors is hugely important for the future of the club.
The Open Day also marked an important moment for the club following confirmation that its long-term future at Apex Lake has been secured — providing stability for sailing, angling and scouting activities that all operate from the site.
